Tim Burke brings the strength of his decades of private practice to serve the clients of Flahive Burke. He has compiled extensive trial and appellate experience in the defense of businesses and professionals in matters involving employment practices, fraud claims, civil rights litigation, lawyers professional liability, accounting malpractice, commercial litigation, premises liability, automobile and trucking liability, construction-defect litigation, construction accident litigation, products liability and alcohol liability.
Tim has performed internal investigations for his institutional clients and counseled clients on risk management and strategies for claims avoidance. He has tried numerous cases to verdict and argued before the New Jersey Supreme Court, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Tim has represented clients before such State and Federal agencies such as the United States Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights and the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development.
Tim has lectured on matters of insurance coverage before the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He has served as a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Essex County Bar Association, the New Jersey Defense Association, the Professional Liability Defense Federation and the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.
Background & Education
Tim was born and raised in Willingboro, New Jersey. He attended Rutgers College in New Brunswick, where he graduated with honors and was admitted as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He attended law school at Rutgers Law - Camden, where he served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Joseph H. Rodriguez, District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. After receiving his law degree, Tim had the honor of serving in a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Michael Patrick King, Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division.
Tim has worked in a number of law firms in the course of his practice, most recently as a partner in a prominent national firm based in New Jersey. With more than 30 years of sophisticated litigation experience, Tim has distinguished himself as an innovative and resourceful advocate for the interest of his clients.
